Curitiba re-launches metro concession tender [free access]

July 8, 2014

The city of Curitiba in Brazil has re-launched a BRL4.67-billion tender for a 35-year concession to build and operate the city's first metro line. The project is to be implemented as a public private partnership (PPP). The 17.6-km north-south line, also known as Linha Azul (Blue line), will connect CIC Sul station in the south to Rua das Flores in the downtown area, covering 14 stations (one elevated). Interested parties have to submit their bids by August 25, 2014.

The tender was re-launched after amending a contract clause which makes clear that remuneration would be made in the form of an annual payment from the city to the concessionaire.
