Peshawar Metrobus and Karachi BRT Green Line approved, Pakistan [free access]

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) of Pakistan has approved the construction of the Peshawar Metrobus line. The line will span 25.6 km from Peshawar Morr to Islamabad International Airport and is expected to cost PKR16.427 billion.


In addition, ECNEC has also approved the bus rapid transit (BRT) Green Line in Karachi. The line will span 27.45 km (18.05 km at-grade and 9.4 km elevated) from KESC Power House Chowrangi (Abdullah Chowk) in Surjani to the central business district in Karachi. The project involves the development of two lanes, each 3.5 metres wide and signal free, and will cost PKR24.6 billion. The Green Line is expected to have an average daily ridership of 400,000 passengers.
