ADB approves USD335 million for Peshawar BRT, Pakistan [free access]

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of USD335 million for the bus rapid transit (BRT) corridor in Peshawar. The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the European Investment Bank are also expected to provide USD75 million each in co-financing. The ADB will administer the loan from the AFD. The remaining funds will be provided by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

 

The BRT corridor will span 26 km from Chamkani to Hayatabad, covering 31 stations.

 

The project includes capacity building of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mobility Authority and the TransPeshawar Company, which will operate the BRT.
