China achieves electric vehicle target early, renews target for 2020 [free access]

Ministry of Transportation (MOT) of the People’s Republic of China has increased its target to deploy 600,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) including buses, sanitation vehicles, taxis, and logistics vehicles by 2020 from its earlier target of 300,000 NEVs in China.

 

MOT’s original plan of 2014 targeted deployment if 200,000 new energy buses, 50,000 new energy taxis, and 50,000 new energy logistics vehicles by the end of 2020. However, this target will is expected to be achieved by end of 2017. The updated target for each segment is yet to be announced.
