Berlin, Brandenburg and DB sign i2030 plan for rail, Germany [free access]

Berlin, Brandenburg and Deutsche Bahn (DB) have signed an agreement called “Development Concept i2030”/ ”Entwicklungskonzept i2030” for expansion of the suburban rail network by 2030.


The three authorities will set up an i2030 steering committee, with first meeting scheduled on November 29, 2017.


Around eight corridors have been identified for rehabilitation to increase capacity, eliminate bottlenecks or introduce new services. Berlin and Brandenburg will fund preparatory studies and projects for upgrading and expanding rail infrastructure in the region.


Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association/ Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) will coordinate planning for projects and the three authorities (Berlin, Brandenburg and DB) will jointly implement the project.
