Proterra supplies electric buses to SporTran; secures bus contract from GTA [free access]

November 14, 2017

Shreveport Area Transit System (SporTran), the bus transportation system in Shreveport, Louisiana has deployed five zero-emission, electric battery buses supplied by Proterra.  The buses utilise combined charged standard (CCS) plug-in DC fast chargers, which enable multiple brands of electric vehicle (EV) cars, trucks and buses to share the same charging infrastructure. Shreveport is the first city in the state to purchase battery-electric buses.

Proterra has also secured a USD3.84-million contract to supply four electric buses to Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) in the North Carolina by 2018. The procurement is funded by transportation bond funds as well as federal and private grants. The authority plans to convert its entire bus fleet into electric over the next few years.
