SC Soft begins testing on AFC system of Nagpur Metro Phase 1, India [free access]

November 30, 2017

Singapore-based SC Soft Pte Limited (SC Soft) has commenced testing the automatic fare collection (AFC) system deployed on Nagpur Metro Phase 1. The AFC gates accept mobile and paper QR tickets and the contactless common mobility smartcard called Maha card.

Three types of QR code tickets can be purchased, namely single journey, return journey and group tickets. Maha card can be used on the metro, feeder services, parking and buses.

Phase 1 comprises Line 1 (19.66 km) and Line 2 (18.54km), which will together cover 36 stations. Initially, AFC gates will be installed at three stations (Khapri, New Airport and Airport South) located on a priority section of 4.5 km on Line 1. Commercial operations on Line 1 are expected to commence in 2018.

In April 2017, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) awarded the contract to design, install and commission the AFC system to a consortium comprising the State Bank of India, SC Soft and Aurionpro Solutions.
