Tramwaje Śląskie to procure 10 trams from Modertrans; to award contracts for 27 trams [free access]

Modertrans has secured a USD8.57-million contract to supply 10 trams (eight unidirectional and two bi-directional) to Tramwaje Ślaskie by 2020. The procurement is co-funded by the European Union (EU).


The new trams will replace the popular old 105N type trams. Each tram will be 13.5 metres long and feature 50 per cent low-floor. It will be equipped with air-conditioning system, USB charging sockets, wheelchair ramps and audio-visual passenger information system.


Tramwaje Ślaskie is yet to award a USD71.69-million contract for the supply of 27 articulated low-floor trams measuring 22-25 metres each and another contract for the supply of eight trams, measuring 32 metres each. Pesa and a consortium of Solaris-Stadler have submitted bids for the contract.


Tramwaje Ślaskie is the largest tramway network operator in Poland, operating 28 lines in 12 cities.
