SFMTA funds service expansion and improvement, US [free access]

San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has approved a USD1.2-billion two-year annual operating budget (AOB) for fiscal years 2019 and 2020 to enhance service by adding rail cars, opening a bus maintenance facility and launching the Central Subway service in 2019.

 

The capital budget is USD513.5 million in FY2019 and USD630.8 million in FY2020. It continues to advance Vision Zero (which is the city’s effort to eliminate traffic fatalities) and enhancement in Muni services by deploying more railcars and buses. Funding is provided for street safety projects (USD94.8 million), traffic and parking improvements (USD34.5 million), transit fleet upgrades (USD117.1 million), transit infrastructure (USD118.9 million) and transit expansion/optimisation (USD426 million).
