Alstom to upgrade signalling and power supply systems of Buenos Aires Belgrano Norte line [free access]

Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura/ Argentina Railways Infrastructure (TAI), the company responsible for railway infrastructure in Argentina, has awarded a EUR16-million contract to France-based Alstom to modify the signalling system of five stations of Belgrano Norte suburban rail line in Buenos Aires. The contract is a part of a programme to renovate 22 stations of the line.


The scope of work for Alstom includes supply of relay interlocking, point machines, signals, local and remote control posts, track circuits and power supply systems. The five stations are Ciudad Universitaria, Aristóbulo del Valle, Munro, Boulogne Sur Mer and Grand Bourg.


Currently, the Buenos Aires suburban rail system comprises seven lines, that together span over 813 km and cover 259 km. The Belgrano Norte rail line spans 54 km and covers 22 stations.
