LAMATA launches EMV contactless bank cards, Nigeria [free access]

Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority (LAMATA) and Sterling Bank Plc. have launched Farepay contactless bank cards in for fare payment on the bus rapid transit (BRT), ferries and commuter trains in the Lagos metropolitan area.

 

The Lagos BRT spans 22 km from Mile 12 to Lagos Island (the traditional central business sistrict) via Ikorodu Road, Western Avenue and Eko Bridge. Of the total 22 km, over 14 km is exclusively for BRT buses and 8 km is separated by road markings. LAMATA plans to add two corridors of total length 49.5 km and upgrade existing infrastructure.
