Dubai RTA to accept Apple Pay and Samsung Pay for Dubai Metro [free access]

June 1, 2018

Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with UAE-based Network International, has upgraded the payment terminals of Dubai Metro stations that will now accept Apple Pay and Samsung Pay to recharge the Nol smartcards. The smartcards are used to pay fares on RTA’s bus, metro and waterbus, and pay parking fees.

The upgradation project is being carried out in phases. Under Phase I, the RTA has deployed 10 new ticket vending machines, and six point of sale (PoS) machines at the World Trade Centre, Ibn Battuta, Oud Metha and Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall stations and 13 new automatic fare collection (AFC) gates at Noor Islamic Bank, Stadium and Deira City Centre stations.

RTA further plans to upgrade payment terminals of all the remaining metro stations by the end of 2018.
