São Paulo extends ABC Integrado consortium contract till May 2019 [free access]

June 7, 2018

The state government of São Paulo has extended the contract of ABC Integrado consortium, which is responsible for the finance, construction, operation and maintenance of São Paulo Metro Line 18 on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis, until May 2019. The consortium comprises Brazil-based companies, Primav and Encalso Cowan, and Argentina-based Benito Roggio Transportes. The contract was awarded in 2014 and work was expected to be completed by 2018. However, construction has not started as of June 2018 because the state government could not acquire the land due to lack of funds.

Line 18 will extend 14.3 km from Tamanduateí to the City Hall in São Bernardo do Campo, covering 13 stations. Construction is expected to be completed by 2022. The project is estimated to require an investment of BRL4.2 billion.
