Bogotá BRT receives funding for two corridors, Colombia [free access]

Colombia’s Economic and Social Policy Council/Consejo Nacional de Política Económica y Social (CONPES) has approved COP4.02 trillion (USD1.3 billion) for the development of two corridors, namely, Avenue 68 and Avenue Ciudad de Cali, of TransMilenio bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Bogotá. The funds will be disbursed between 2020 and 2038.

 

Avenue 68 will span 16.9 km from Autopista Sur highway to Carrera Séptima, covering 21 stations. It will be developed at an investment of COP2.5 trillion. The peak-hour ridership is estimated at 33,067 passengers.

 

Avenue Ciudad de Cali will span 7.2 km from Avenida de las Américas to Avenida Circunvalar del Sur, covering eight stations. It will be developed at an investment of COP0.97 trillion. The peak-hour ridership is expected to be 33,255 passengers.

 

No information is available regarding the utilisation of the remaining COP0.55 trillion.
