Buenos Aires receives bids for SUBTE O&M contract [free access]

The city government of Buenos Aires has received technical bids for the operation and maintenance (O&M) contract of the Buenos Aires Subway (SUBTE) from three consortia: Benito Roggio Transporte, Siemens and Deutsche Bahn; RATP Dev Argentina; Keolis SA, Helport SA and Transport for London.


The consortia will submit financial bids in October 2018 and the contract is expected to be awarded by November 2018. The duration of the contract is 12 years, starting from January 1, 2019, and can be extended by three years. The scope of work includes the operation of passenger services on the subway and pre-metro, and the maintenance of rolling stock and other infrastructure systems.


Currently, SUBTE comprises six metro lines and one pre-metro line, which together span over 61 km and cover 104 stations. The annual ridership was 303.85 million passengers in 2016. SUBTE owns 657 railcars, of which 25 are deployed on the pre-metro line.
