L&T to supply telecom system for Bangalore Metro Green and Purple Line extensions, India [free access]

India-based Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction has secured an INR1.38-billion contract from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to supply telecommunication systems for the Green and Purple Line extensions of Bangalore Metro.


The scope of work includes the supply of public address systems, passenger information displays, master clocks, a centralised data recording system, TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) Communication, a fibre optic transmission network, closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance and Telecom-supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.


The Purple Line is planned to be extended by 8.81 km from Mysore Road to Kengeri and by 15.26 km from Baiyyappanahalli to Whitefield. The Green Line is planned to be extended by 6.29 km from Yelachenahalli to Anjanapura and 3.03 km from Hesaraghatta Cross to BIEC. Construction is currently underway and passenger services are expected to commence in 2022.
