Bucharest to modernise tramways with new fleet [free access]

The General Council of Bucharest/Consiliul General al Municipiului Bucure┼čti (CGMB) has approved plans of Bucharest Municipality to invest EUR1.96 million for procurement of 56 trams under the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

 

The trams will operate on Lines 21, 25, 32 and 41, which are being modernised at a cost of about EUR120.72 million (including VAT). Twelve trams, involving an total investment of EUR77.59 million, will be deployed on Lines 21, 25 and 32; 20 trams, involving an investment of EUR43.1 million, are being deployed on Line 41

 

In May 2018, the Bucharest Municipality had submitted an application to procure 100 36-metre long trams and modernise Lines 1, 10, 21, 25, 32, 40, 41 and 55.

 

In October 2018, CGMB approved the procurement of 12 trams each for Lines 1 and 10 at a total investment of EUR51.73 million.
