Japanese consortium to construct Metro Manila subway by 2025, Philippines [free access]

OCGlobal, the consortium of six Japanese firms including Oriental Consultants Global Company Limited, Tokyo Metro, Katahira & Engineers International, Pacific Consultants Company Limited, Tonichi Engineering Consultants Incorporated and Metro Development Company Limited has secured the PHP11-billion contract to construct the Metro Manila subway.

 

The Metro Manila subway will be the first underground metro line in Manila. It will span 25 km from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Paranaque City, covering 14 stations. Phase 1 is expected to cost USD7.05 billion and is partly funded by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

 

Construction is expected to commence in end-2018. Passenger services are scheduled to start on three stations (Mindanao Avenue-Quirino Highway, Tandang Sora and North Avenue) by 2022 and full operations are expected to commence in 2025.
