Conduent to deploy contactless ABT in Flemish Region, Belgium [free access]

December 18, 2018

Conduent Transportation has secured a contract from De Lijn, public transport operator in Flemish Region, to install Atlas fare collection system and operate it for a period of 10 years.

The new system will be implemented in two phases. Phase I involves deployment of contactless smartcards and bank cards based on the cEMV (contactless Europay, MasterCard and Visa) by the end of 2019. Phase II involves deployment of account-based ticketing (ABT) system by mid-2020.

In ABT, the ticket will be stored in the cloud and mobility-as-a-service will be integrated with car-share, bike hire and taxis. Conduent will deploy 10,000 terminals on buses and trams across Flanders.
