Cincinnati Metro to procure 70 new buses with federal grants, US [free access]

December 28, 2018

Cincinnati Metro has announced plans to procure 70 new buses by the end of 2019 to replace some of the oldest buses in its current fleet. The order will include six 9.1-metre (30-foot) “cutaway” buses and 64 standard 12.2-metre (40-foot) buses, which will be deployed on routes with lower ridership levels. Each bus will be equipped with Wi-Fi, on-board charging ports for electronic devices and plastic seats.

The order will be funded by USD26.1 million in federal grants provided by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the Ohio Department of Transportation (Ohio DOT) and the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) with the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) providing a 20 per cent local match.
