Transantiago deploys another 100 electric buses, Chile [free access]

January 21, 2019

Chile’s Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT) has deployed 100 electric buses of E12-type supplied by China-based Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Company Limited (Yutong Bus) in Santiago. The buses will start operations from March 2019 and will connect the municipalities of Maipú and Bajos de Mena via the city centre of Santiago. In November 2018, MTT had deployed another 100 electric buses supplied by BYD in Santiago.

Yutong Bus has supplied the buses under a contract signed in November 2018. Each bus is 12 metres long, has the capacity to carry 81 passengers (30 seated), and is equipped with air conditioning (AC), Wi-Fi, and USB chargers. Each bus is equipped with a 324 kWh battery that can be fully recharged in two hours.
