Lille public transport rebranded; to deploy autonomous shuttles by end-2019, France [free access]

January 28, 2019

Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL) has rebranded the public transport network of Lille from Transpole to Ilévia. The rebranded public transport network will integrate new mobility solutions such as the TER suburban rail network operated by SNCF Mobilités, bicycle, carpooling, and transport on reservation to the existing metro, bus, and tram services.

In addition, MEL has announced plans to deploy two autonomous shuttles in the city of Villeneuve d'Ascq, a hub for science and technology, from December 17, 2019. The shuttle will be operated on a 1.4-km public road and will serve four stops. France-based Navya will supply the autonomous shuttles, which will be equipped with the latest global positioning system (GPS) and sensors.
