Lille public transport rebranded; deploys autonomous shuttles, France [free access]

January 28, 2019

Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL) has rebranded the public transport network of Lille from Transpole to Ilévia. The rebranded public transport network will integrate new mobility solutions such as the TER suburban rail network operated by SNCF Mobilités, bicycle, carpooling, and transport on reservation to the existing metro, bus, and tram services.

In addition, MEL has deployed two autonomous shuttles in the city of Villeneuve d'Ascq, a hub for science and technology, from December 17, 2018. The shuttle is being operated on a 1.4-km public road and serve four stops. France-based Navya has supplied the autonomous shuttles, which is equipped with the latest global positioning system (GPS) and sensors.
