LA Metro commences work on USD350 million Blue Line modernisation project, US [free access]

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) has commenced work on the USD350 million Blue Line modernisation project. The scope of work includes improvements to signalling systems, improvements to tracks and overhead wires, construction of four new crossover tracks, and installation of interactive digital map displays in all stations. The project entails two four-month closures, with work on the southern segment of the Blue Line beginning on January 26, 2019.


The Blue Line is a 34.3-km (21.3-mile)-long light rail line. It opened for passenger service in 1990 and serves downtown Los Angeles, Watts, and Willowbrook.
