Ursus Bus consortium selected for BTP programme; to design and build 1,082 zero-emission buses for Polish market [free access]

Poland’s National Centre for Research and Development/Narodowego Centrum Badań i Rozwoju (NCBR) has selected the Ursus Bus consortium for the Non-Geographical Public Transport/ Bezemisyjny Transport Publiczny (BTP) programme, which involves the procurement of more than 1,000 zero-emission buses in the period 2019–2023. The BTP programme involves an investment of more than PLN3.12 billion for research and development (R&D) as well as implementation of the project.

 

The consortium comprises Ursus Bus S.A., Ursus S.A., Zakład Elektroniki Przemysłowej ENIKA Sp. z o.o., Innovative Trade and Product Startegies Sp. z o.o. and ITM Poland S.A. The company will design and build around 1,082 electric or hydrogen buses for the Polish market.

 

The consortium will implement the R&D phase in three stages. Stage 1 involves designing of 12-metre-long electric and hydrogen buses within 195 days for a cost of PLN2.5 million (net). Stage 2 involves construction of a 12-metre-long prototype vehicle within 225 days for a cost of PLN4.85 million (net). Stage 3 involves construction of three prototype vehicles of length 10, 12, and 18 metres within 215 days for a cost of PLN15 million (net).
