MBTA releases Focus40 plan for future capital investments, United States [free access]

March 21, 2019

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Fiscal and Management Control Board (FMCB) has voted to release Focus40, a report that outlines the process for the agency to advance future capital investments. It will also tie in with the goals of the MBTA Strategic Plan, which was developed by the agency to meet the region’s long-term transportation needs by 2040.

The investment programmes that are part of Focus40 include key capital projects that are currently underway and those that are planned for the future, including the installation of steel doors at the Fenway tunnel portal, replacement of the remaining bus fleet, capacity improvements for all rapid transit lines, and investments in “greening” the fleet by procuring vehicles running on cleaner fuels.
