Systra submits feasibility study report for India’s Thiruvananthapuram–Kasaragod HSR line [free access]

France-based Systra has submitted a feasibility study report for the proposed INR560 billion semi-high-speed railway line connecting Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod. According to the report, the project has been found to be feasible and financially viable.

 

The line will span 531 km, covering 10 stations. It will have an operational speed of 180 km/hr and maximum speed of 200 km/hr. A fleet of nine-car Vande-Bharat Express (Train 18 series) trains will be deployed initially, which will increase to 12-15 cars eventually. The DPR is expected to be completed by October 2019 and construction is expected to begin in 2020.
