EBRD to provide loans up to EUR250 million under Ukraine Public Transport Framework II [free access]

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced its plans to provide loans up to EUR250 million to public transport companies in Ukraine under the Ukraine Public Transport Framework II programme, to facilitate the modernisation of public transport infrastructure.

 

The EBRD will sign loan agreements with respective local transport authorities, and project support agreements and guarantees with respective cities. Each loan will be guaranteed by the respective city.

 

The loans will be invested in the renewal of transport (acquisition of new buses, trolleybuses, trams and/or metro cars) as well as the rehabilitation and/or modernisation of public transport infrastructure including the automated fare collection (AFC), automatic vehicle location and traffic management systems.
