São Paulo commuter rail Line 13 extension approved, Brazil [free access]

The Government of Brazil and the municipal government of São Paulo have approved plans to extend Line 13 of the São Paulo commuter rail to São Paulo International Airport/ Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo. The extension will be developed as a monorail. It will span 2.6 km and cover three stations. The end-to-end journey time will be six minutes. The system will have a capacity for 2,000 passengers per hour per direction (pphpd). It will be developed at an investment of BRL175 million and will be financed by the concessionaire of the airport by deducting the funds that the concessionaire pays annually to the Government of Brazil.


Construction is expected to commence in September 2019 and is expected to be completed by May 2021.
