PKP Intercity to procure 26 coaches, Poland [free access]

H. Cegielski - Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych Sp. z oo has secured a PLN223.8 (EUR52.3 million) contract from PKP Intercity, the railway operator in Poland, to supply an additional 26 railcars to be deployed on the network. In 2018, the company secured a contract to supply 55 railcars at an estimated investment of PLN473.5 million (EUR110.7 million). The scope of work also includes provision of inspection and maintenance services.

 

Each railcar will have a maximum speed of 200 km/hr. It will be equipped with armchairs, air conditioning (AC) system, and passenger information system.

 

As a part of the modernisation and upgradation of its fleet, PKP Intercity has awarded contracts worth PLN3 billion (EUR701.37 million). The cars will be deployed on 10 routes and will commence operations in February 2022.
