Transdev to continue O&M of Luas Light Rail, Ireland [free access]

June 25, 2019

Transdev has secured a six-year contract from Ireland’s National Transit Authority (NTA) and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of Dublin’s Luas Light Rail network. The scope of the contract will include the O&M of both infrastructure and rolling stock. It includes an option for a five-year extension.

The new contract period will begin from December 1, 2019. The contract value is estimated to be around EUR495 million if the option for an extension is exercised.

Transdev has been operating the light rail network since 2004. In March 2017, an international tender was launched to appoint an operator. Currently, Alstom maintains the infrastructure and the light rail vehicle (LRV) fleet under two five-year contracts secured in 2012.
