June 30, 2019

The United States Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has signed a USD60.76 million grant agreement with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) for the extension of the Red and Blue Line platforms under the Capital Investment Grants (CIG) Program. The grant provides funding for major transit projects in the United States.

Platforms on 28 stations along the lines will be extended to accommodate three-car trains, which can currently accommodate only two-car trains, thereby increasing ridership.

The total cost of the extension project USD128.74 million.
