Delhi to procure 1,650 buses, India [free access]

The government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT) has approved plans to procure 1,650 air-conditioned (AC) buses. Of these, 1,000 buses will be operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the remaining 650 buses will be deployed under the Cluster Bus scheme. The buses are expected to be deployed between January 2020 and May 2020. The date of launch of tender(s) is yet to be announced.

 

In addition, the government has announced that it will soon award the concession agreement to supply 650 buses to be operated under the Cluster Bus scheme. The procurement of the buses is a part of the government’s plan to deploy 9,500 buses, including 1,000 electric buses and 3,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses by May 2020.

 

Currently, a fleet of 5,459 buses is operational in Delhi. Of this, 3,780 buses are operated by DTC and the remaining 1,679 buses are operated under the Cluster Bus scheme.
