Bengaluru suburban rail alignment and cost revised, India [free access]

The Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) has submitted the revised detailed project report (DPR) of the Bengaluru suburban rail project and has reduced the network by a distance of 12.33 km and the number of stations by 29. This revision has reduced the project cost from INR190 billion to INR160 billion.


The Bengaluru suburban rail network will comprise four corridors which will collectively span 148.17 km and cover 62 stations by 2025. The project was approved by the state government of Karnataka in January 2019.
