Pune Metro rolling stock contract awarded, India [free access]

A consortium led by India-based Titagarh Wagons has secured a contract from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO). It has been declared as the lowest bidder for a contract to design, manufacture, supply, test, and commission 33 three-car trains for the Pune Metro project.  Titagarh Wagons’s Italy-based subsidiary, Titagarh Firema, is also a part of the consortium. The estimated value of the contract is INR11.25 billion. Titagarh Wagons is soon expected to receive a formal order for the contract. The consortium will supply the prototype within 78 weeks and the 33 trains within 160 weeks.

 

Pune Metro will comprise two corridors which will collectively span 31.25 km and cover 30 stations (25 elevated and five underground). It is currently under construction. Passenger services are expected to commence in 2021.
