KEC International secures contracts for urban rail projects in India [free access]

India-based KEC International has secured two contracts for the Delhi–Meerut regional rapid transit system (RRTS) and the Kochi Metro Phase 1A projects. The timeline for the commencement of works is yet to be announced.


KEC International, with its joint-venture (JV) partner, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), has secured an INR5.80 billion contract from National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to construct elevated viaducts and two stations of Delhi–Meerut RRTS Phase 1. Delhi–Meerut RRTS is a rail-based, dedicated, high-speed, high-capacity commuter service. It will span 82 km and cover 22 stations. The system is expected to be fully operational by July 2024.


The company has also secured an INR2.65 billion contract from Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) to construct elevated viaducts and two stations of Kochi Metro Phase 1A. Phase 1A will span 2 km and cover two stations.
