Waterloo secures federal funding for five transit projects, Canada [free access]

The Government of Canada has announced plans to provide funding of more than CAD57 million for five transit projects in Waterloo through the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream (PTIS) of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan. The provincial government of Ontario will provide over CAD47 million to the projects, while the city government of Waterloo will contribute more than CAD55 million.

 

The projects include the purchase of 15 diesel buses to increase service, 15 clean diesel buses to replace existing buses, 19 specialised transit buses to replace others as well as two specialised service buses for Grand River Transit (GRT), and the construction of a new bus maintenance and storage facility.
