Rome Metro rolling stock tender launched, Italy [free access]

The Mobility and Transport Department/ Dipartimento Mobilità e Trasporti of Rome has launched a tender to design, supply, and maintain a fleet of 20 trains for Rome Metro Lines A and B. The estimated value of the contract is EUR169.17 million (excluding VAT). The last date for submission of bids is December 16, 2019. The maintenance services have to be provided for a period of five years.

 

The procurement is being financed under aEUR425.52 million loan secured by the city of Rome from Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructure (MIT) in January 2019. The loan was granted to finance interventions and infrastructural development in the capital.  

 

Of the 20 trains, 15 will be deployed on Line B (including extension B1) and the remaining five trains will be deployed on Line A. The existing Rome Metro network comprises three lines (Lines A, B, and C) which collectively span around 60 km.
