November 4, 2019

Turkey-based Bozankaya, a bus and tram manufacturing company, has secured a RON140.8 million contract from the Iași City Hall to supply 16 trams. Each tram will be 26 metres long. The procurement is a part of three European-funded projects carried out by the Iași City Hall.

The first project, namely ‘Rehabilitation of tram infrastructure in Iași City–Reorganization of traffic on Tudor Vladimirescu Boulevard’, involves construction of a tram line and stations as well as procurement of seven trams.

The second project, called ‘Rehabilitation of the tram infrastructure in Iași’, involves rehabilitation works on three sections as well as procurement of five trams.

The third and last project is ‘Rehabilitation of Iași–Dancu tram infrastructure’, which involves rehabilitation works as well as procurement of four trams. These three projects together are valued at RON332.58 million.

Romania’s Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration has launched another tender for the purchase of 16 trams of length 30 metres for deployment in Iași. PESA was the sole bidder for the project. The final decision by the authorities for the contract is yet to be announced.
