RedeMob Consortium to deploy new e-ticketing system in Grande Goiânia by December 2020, Brazil [free access]

November 26, 2019

Brazil-based RedeMob Consortium has secured a contract to provide financing as well as to implement Prodata’s e-fare payment on the Rede Metropolitana de Transportes Coletivos de Goiânia (RMTC Goiânia) and Companhia Metropolitana de Transportes Colectivos (CMTC) networks.

The new fare payment technology will comprise deployment of facial biometrics, bank cards, QR code-based and NFC-based mobile ticketing, as well as NFC-based smart watches. In addition, the new ticketing system will be based on cloud payment (Procloud), which will allow the passengers to update their transport card data within the vehicle. The new system will also be integrated with the existing smartcard (Sitpass card).

The project will be implemented in phases. The first phase will include implementation of facial biometrics and QR code-based mobile ticketing within eight months. The next phase will be completed within four months. The new system is expected to be fully operational by December 2020.

This e-ticketing system has been previously implemented by the RedeMob Consortium in other Brazilian cities, such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
