The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation, has secured a concession contract to develop as well as provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for REGIO Tram de Occidente (REGIO), the first suburban rail line project in Colombia. The estimated value of the contract is COP3.6 billion and the duration is 26 years (four and a half years for design, construction, and testing, 21 years for O&M services, and six months for transferring the assets to Empresa Férrea Regional). The company was the sole bidder for this project.

REGIO Tram de Occidente is an upcoming suburban rail line connecting Bogotá and Facatativá. It will span 39.6 km and cover 17 stations. Pre-construction works are scheduled to commence in 2020 and passenger services will commence by mid-2024.
