Mikroelektronika–SoftServe consortium secures AFC contract in Lviv, Ukraine [free access]

A consortium of Czech Republic-based Mikroelektronika and Ukraine-based SoftServe – Municipal Technologies LLC has secured a EUR11.6 million contract from Lvivavtodor to provide an automated fare collection (AFC) system and maintain it for a period of 10 years. Of the total contract value, the project implementation cost is EUR9.17 million, and the licence, maintenance, support and service cost for 10 years is EUR2.41 million.

 

The scope of the contract includes the provision of design, equipment, software, hardware, implementation systems, integration services, and maintenance services. The equipments will be installed on around 1,000 vehicles (725 buses, 150 trams, 125 trolleybuses).

 

The new ticketing system will be based on account-based ticketing (ABT) and will comprise deployment of QR code-based tickets, contactless smartcards, mobile ticketing, bank cards, and NFC-based digital wallets. The estimated budget for the project is around EUR11.2 million, which is being funded by a EUR10 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and local contribution (EUR 1.2 million).
