Poltava to procure 40 trolleybuses through EBRD’s loan, Ukraine [free access]

January 10, 2020

Bogdan Motors has secured a EUR8 million contract from Poltavaelectroavtotrans, a public transport operator in Poltava, to supply 40 trolleybuses by the end of 2020. Each T701.17 low-floor trolleybus will be 12 metres long and have a capacity to carry 105 passengers (including 34 seated).

The procurement is being funded through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD’s) Ukraine Public Transport Framework II programme. It will be the first loan under the programme. In May 2019, EBRD announced its plans to provide loans of up to EUR250 million to public transport companies in Ukraine under the Ukraine Public Transport Framework II programme, to facilitate the modernisation of public transport infrastructure in the country.

In addition, another EUR2 million loan is planned to finance the upgrade of overhead wires and substations in the city.
