Constran to complete civil works on Sao Paulo Metro Line 17 priority section, Brazil [free access]

Brazil-based Constran has secured a contract from São Paulo Metro/ Companhia do Metropolitano de São Paulo (CMSP) to complete the civil works on a priority section of Sao Paulo Metro Line 17. The estimated value of the contract is BRL494.80 million. The priority section will span 7.7 km and cover eight stations. The schedule for the completion of works is yet to be finalised.


The contract was initially awarded to Consórcio Monotrilho Integração (CMI), a consortium of Andrade Gutierrez, CR Almeida, Scomi, and MPE. The scope of work also included supply of rolling stock and the signalling system. This contract was cancelled in March 2019 due to delays in the completion of work.


Sao Paulo Metro Line 17 is an upcoming monorail line. It will span 17.7 km and cover 18 stations. 86 per cent of civil works of the priority section have been completed. The development of Line 17 is also being financed by Corporacion Andina de Fomento-Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina (CAF), the development bank of Latin America.
