Xuzhou Metro, China [free access]

Developer/ operator: Xuzhou Urban Rail Transit Company Limited is the developer and the operator.

 

Project description: Expansion of the metro network in Xuzhou, one of the biggest cities in Jiangsu Province.

 

Background: The Xuzhou Metro network comprises one line which spans 21.97 km (21 km underground, 0.57 km elevated, and 0.4 km at-grade) and covers 18 stations. Xuzhou is the fifth city in Jiangsu Province to have an operational metro system. Passenger services had commenced in September 2019. The line has been developed at an estimated investment of CNY16.28 billion.

 

Fare system: Passengers can pay fare using Union Pay-branded contactless bank cards, single-use tickets, and the Xuzhou Metro mobile application (app).

 

Capital plans: Five new lines spanning over 121 km are planned to be added to the network by 2024.

 

Lines under construction: Currently, Line 2 Phase I and Line 3 Phase I are under construction.

 

 

Lines under planning: In February 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved plans to develop three new lines and to extend one line by 2024. These lines will collectively span 79.3 km and will be developed at an estimated investment of CNY53.59 billion. These lines will also be financed by the Xuzhou Municipal Government and through loans from banks.
