Vervoerregio Amsterdam, the transport authority for Amsterdam, has announced that it will invest EUR235 million in road safety projects, public transport projects, and purchases of zero-emission buses. The funding will be provided as part of a ‘corona package’ to stimulate the economy and to encourage the use of public transport after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of the total amount, EUR30 million will be allocated for investments in infrastructure in 2021; and EUR205 million for sustainability, inclusiveness, and rush-hour avoidance in 2021 and beyond. In addition, the regular investment of EUR130 million per year will also be used to make improvements in mobility services.
