TfL to procure new revenue collection system for London, UK [free access]

November 11, 2020

Transport for London (TfL) has announced plans to procure a new revenue collection system for London. The new contract will include the replacement of older pneumatic-powered gates, replacement of validation readers, migration of the Oyster system on to the same technology platform as other contactless bank card and mobile payments, thus allowing the legacy back-office system to be retired, and replacement of the revenue inspection device.

TfL has only released a prior information notice to engage with suppliers that have experience both in revenue collection and the transport industry. TfL has requested interested parties to express interest by December 4, 2020 and to respond to the TfL revenue collection system questionnaire. The formal contract tender notice is expected to be published in February 2022.
