Global Mass Transit Research has released a database with up-to-date information on 500 urban rail projects from across the world. It comprises a text version and a user-friendly Microsoft Excel database.
The report was released on August 21, 2015. The 1,100+ page database has two distinct sections.
Part 1 of the database (93 pages) includes an analysis of the projects based on geographic region (North America, Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa), development stage (planned, in procurement, or under construction), mode (light-rail, tram, monorail, automated people mover [APM], metrorail, subway, rapid transit, airport rail link (ARL), commuter rail), and type of project (new line of an existing system, extension of existing line, or new system).
Part 2 of the database (1,011 pages) includes project profiles in tabular format. The database covers 161 light-rail/streetcar/tram projects, 17 monorail/APM projects, 257 metrorail/subway/rapid transit projects, 12 ARL projects, 41 commuter rail projects and 12 high speed rail projects. There are 100 projects from North America, 35 from Latin America, 165 from Asia-Pacific, 135 from Europe, and 65 from the Middle East and Africa.
The database will be useful to organisations interested in urban railways—government agencies, transport authorities, operators, service and technology providers, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, EPC contractors, investors/lenders, research organisations, industry consultants, regulatory agencies, development institutions, etc.
