September 2, 2019

The Government of UK has allocated GBP80.8 million under its Housing Infrastructure Fund to the Greater London Authority for London Overground’s East London Line Growth Capacity programme. The project will increase service frequency on the existing core section between Dalston Junction and Surrey Quays of the East London Line. Under the project, a new station will be built at Surrey Canal Road and capacity will be improved at the Surrey Quays station.

The Housing Infrastructure Fund supports development of new infrastructure, including transport projects, that will facilitate development of new homes. The grant for the East London Line will support development of 14,000 new houses in the London boroughs of Southwark and Lewisham.
