Mexico train projects to receive funding for pre-investment studies [free access]

The Federal Government of Mexico has announced plans to invest MXN60 million in pre-investment studies of the suburban train in the Monterrey Metropolitan Area and the Guanajuato-Querétaro Metropolitan and Inter-municipal State Train. This investment is a part of Mexico’s Expenditure Budget Project 2020.


The Monterrey suburban train will span 62 km and cover 27 stations, including three stations that will provide intermodal transfer to Metrorrey and Ecovía. It has received MXN34 million for the conducting of the pre-investment studies.


The Guanajuato-Querétaro Metropolitan and Intermunicipal State Train will span 174 km. It is set to receive MXN26 million for the pre-investment studies. It is expected to have an estimated daily ridership of 220,000 passengers and will connect the cities of León, Silao, Irapuato, Salamanca, Celaya, and Querétaro.
