EIB to fund tram expansion in Graz, Austria [free access]

The city of Graz has secured funding worth EUR100 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for modernisation and expansion of the tramway infrastructure in the city as well as for renewal of the tram and bus fleet.


These projects are part of the EUR117.4 million tram expansion programme announced by the city in February 2018. The tramway expansion programme comprises development of three new tram lines and upgradation of three single-track sections on Lines 1 and 5 to double tracks. The provincial government of Styria will co-finance the programme with an investment of EUR43.8 million over a period of 15 years.
